Picture Of My Broken Heart 2009-06-25, 12:27 a.m.
I pull the box down off the shelf This box contains my broken heart. I sort through hundreds of pieces Not quite sure where to start Fumbling through many shapes All the straight edged pieces are first Sifting through similar colors All the white pieces hurts the worst I finally have the edge complete Now its time to fill in the gaps Snapping together the picture Of the day my heart collapsed Most of the pieces are now in place Yet it feels so out of whack Standing beside her smiling so proud You held her close with your arm around her back I've almost completed her dress With all the white pieces of the gown She's smiling behind the veil That she is wearing like a crown This picture is becoming clear I see a golden ring on your hand It matches so perfectly To her new wedding band Now there's only one piece left To be put into place It's the piece that holds your smile The smile upon your face That one final piece has been snapped together A tear runs down my cheek As I see you're with her forever. This is the picture of my broken heart This is the picture of your brand new start.
